Due to severe monsoon rains and flooding in the Sylhet division, millions of people are marooned in Bangladesh. As many as 450 emergency shelters are currently in operation, with people being evacuated in the thousands in the area and surrounding areas.
Floods have swept away homes and destroyed farmlands, forcing countless families to higher grounds and into temporary flood shelters.
According to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre, 80-90% of the region and surrounding areas are submerged, resulting in widespread displacement and crisis.
